CLEVELAND - Cleveland State freshman Amanda Macenko was named Horizon League Pitcher of the Week on Monday, a day after leading the Vikings to their second straight weekend sweep on the road in league play. This is the fourth time Macenko has been honored this season by the league office.

Macenko was nearly untouchable last week, going 6-0 with a 0.90 ERA (6R/4ER) and three shutouts in her four starts. In 31.0 innings of work, she fanned 19 while walking just one. She won all three games over the weekend against Detroit, posting a 1.71 ERA in 16.1 innings. The Brunswick, Ohio native pitched a shutout in the opener, and in the three games, struck out 11 without a walk. In mid-week non-conference action, Macenko blanked Robert Morris and Oakland in a pair of four-hit efforts.

On the year, Macenko is 23-8 with a 1.70 ERA and five shutouts in 189.1 innings pitched. She needs just one win to match Amy Kyler's school record of 24 victories set in 1997.

Seeded second in the upcoming Horizon League Championship, the host Vikings (29-12, 8-6 HL) will take on No. 7 Wright State at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday (May 10) at Viking Field. CSU has won its last 10 games to move within one victory of posting back-to-back 30-win seasons for the first time in school history.
