GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Michele Penney's first inning double staked the Vikings to a 2-0 lead and Horizon League Pitcher of the Year Grace Luginbuhl made the lead stand up as Cleveland State upended Butler, 2-1, in the opening round of the 2005 Horizon League Softball Championship.

Cleveland State (22-24), the No. 3 seed in the tourney, advances to face No. 2 UW-Green Bay on Thursday afternoon.

Playing in cold and windy conditions in Green Bay, the Vikings jumped on the Bulldogs in the first inning when Penney laced a double that scored Amber Lowe and Luginbuhl.

That was all the offense that CSU would need as Luginbuhl went the distance on the mound, striking out 10 while allowing just one earned run on three hits en route to picking up her 14th win of the season.
