Grace Luginbuhl is a complete player who is capable of winning games in a number of ways. The reigning Horizon League Pitcher of the Year, she combines an above-average fastball with a devastating change-up and has become one of the top pitchers in Viking softball history. Offensively, she has a knack for driving in the big runs and her speed on the basepaths has made her nearly impossible to throw out on steal attempts.

2005 - Junior Season

Named Horizon League Pitcher of the Year and was first team all-league choice at both pitcher and designated player...second team CoSIDA Academic All-District selection...named to the league all-tournament team after going 3-1 with a 1.19 ERA and 36 strikeouts in 29.1 innings...also hit .294 in five games as the designated player...ranked in the top four of every league category...fanned 10 or more on five occasions...hit .259 with 19 RBI and 18 runs scored...successful on all 15 steal attempts to rank tied for fourth in the league...put together 10-game hitting streak from April 16-30...went 7-4 with a 2.12 ERA while hitting .315 with 12 stolen bases, nine runs and seven RBI in league play...earned Horizon League Pitcher of the Week honors on May 9 and April 25...put together eight multi-hit and five multi-RBI contests...fanned 12 in complete game loss to UW-Green Bay (5/14) in league championship...blanked Detroit (5/13) over eight innings to propel team into league title game...went the distance with 10 strikeouts in 13-inning win over Youngstown State (4/19), then came back to earn victory in relief in game two...went 4-for-7 with four runs and four steals in twin bill at UIC (4/30)...collected three hits against Wright State (4/16) and versus Bucknell (3/14).

2004 - Sophomore Season

Second team all-league and first team CoSIDA Academic All-District choice...two-time league player of the week pick (5/10 & 4/12)...went 15-11 with a team-best 1.77 ERA in a school-record 42 appearances (26 starts)...tossed 17 complete games, four of which were shutouts...fanned 174 while walking just 53 in 205.1 innings pitched...hit .203 with nine RBI in 79 at-bats...converted all 11 stolen base attempts...ranked among the league leaders in stolen bases and was in the top five of every pitching category...pitched all three games in league tournament, giving up four earned runs in 21.0 innings...struck out a career-high 15 batters and gave up no earned runs in 14-inning complete game victory at Wright State (4/9)...was nearly unhittable in the Rebel Spring Games, appearing in 11 of CSU's 12 contests, allowing just one earned run in 52.1 innings of work...gave up just 21 hits and 10 walks while fanning 65 and had streaks of 32.1 scoreless innings and 43.1 innings without an earned run.

2003 - Freshman Season

Member of the Horizon League All-Tournament team...played in 43 games, starting in 39...appeared in 30 games as a pitcher, starting three...led the Vikings with a 1.63 ERA, going 5-4 with 83 strikeouts in 90.0 innings... ranked second in the league in ERA and seventh in strikeouts...tallied 13 RBI on 27 hits while scoring 16 runs...tied for second on the team with 21 thefts... drove in three runs and scored another against UW-Green Bay on April 12...picked up three wins in the Horizon League Championship, allowing one run in 17.2 innings and striking out 17.

High School

Led team to Division II state championship in 2001 runner-up finish in 2000...first team all-state in 2001 and 2002 and second-team all-state in 2000...team captain in 2002...league player of the year in 2001 and 2002...batted .500 with one home run, 27 RBI and 22 stolen bases...recorded a 26-1 mark in the circle, posting 353 strikeouts and a 0.07 ERA...lettered all four years...team finished senior campaign with a record of 28-1...also lettered three times in tennis and once in cross-country.
