CLEVELAND - Cleveland State (13-13, 3-1 HL) took a pair of games from UW-Green Bay (6-17, 2-4 HL) in Horizon League softball action Saturday afternoon at Viking Field. Three Viking pitchers combined to give up just nine hits and no earned runs en route to posting 4-1 and 7-1 victories.

Trailing 1-0 in game one, junior outfielder Michelle Beightol (Akron, Ohio/Springfield) launched a two-run homer to left-center to put the Vikings ahead. CSU added a pair of insurance runs in the fifth on a sacrifice bunt by freshman third baseman Kaitlin Guyette (Mantua, Ohio/Crestwood) and an RBI single by sophomore outfielder Michelle Nicholas (Navarre, Ohio/Perry).

Junior Lindsay Gervais (Bucyrus, Ohio/Colonel Crawford) gave up four hits and an unearned run in 5.1 innings to improve to 4-5. Freshman Grace Luginbuhl (Lima, Ohio/Bath) surrendered just one hit in the final 1.2 innings for her second save.

Stephanie Hansen went the distance for the Phoenix, falling to 4-5.

In the second contest, Luginbuhl had a three-run double in the third and Beightol drove in three runners in support of senior Jessica Miller (Medina, Ohio/Medina). Miller (6-2) scattered four hits, struck out seven and walked none as she tossed her third complete game of the season.

Kristin Kosbucki (1-6) took the loss for UWGB.

Cleveland State and UW-Green Bay play the final game of the series tomorrow at 11:00 a.m.
