Oct. 21, 2005

KENT, Ohio - The Viking cross country team closed out the regular season on Friday (Oct. 21) at the Kent State Short Course Classic. Cleveland State finished third in the 3K race held at the KSU Golf Course. Sherri Douglas finished 11th with a time of 11:35.8 to pace the harriers.

Twins Julie Piotrowski and Audrey Piotrowski finished less than three seconds behind Douglas in 14th and 15th place respectively.

"The team is upbeat and excited heading into the league championships," head coach Joe Jaketic said. "We still have a gap between the top three runners and the rest of the team, but Audrey [Piotrowski] has really stepped up for us the last couple of meets and run great."

The Vikings will travel to Yellow Springs, Ohio for the Horizon League Championships on Saturday, Oct. 29. The 5K race will be held at John Bryan State Park, just east of Fairborn. Butler is the prohibitive favorite to claim its fourth straight league title.
