CLEVELAND - Volleyball standouts Liz Fazio and Mel Snyder as well as men's soccer stalwart Tom Sadd have been named to the 2006 Fall Academic All-Horizon League teams for their respective sports. The league office made the announcement on Thursday (Nov. 30).

Fazio, an Akron native, carries a 3.96 GPA in biology. The sophomore outside hitter earned Horizon League All-Newcomer honors after finishing third in league play with 3.69 kills per game and fifth with 4.11 points. She earned league Player of the Week honors on Aug. 28 and the Student-Athlete of the Week nod twice (Aug. 29 & Sept. 26).

A native of Amherst, Ohio, Snyder has a 3.72 GPA in middle childhood education. A first team All-Horizon League selection, the junior setter paced the league in assists per game (12.53), while ranking fifth in aces (0.37) and 10th in hitting percentage (.265). She was named MVP of the UNC Asheville Classic (Sept. 1-2) after directing CSU to the tournament title.

Sadd, a Christchurch, New Zealand, native, owns a 3.38 GPA in international business. The junior defender played in 13 games for the Vikings, starting 11 times. Named one of the team's co-captains, his lone goal of the year was the game-winner against Canisius on Aug. 27.

The Horizon League recognizes student-athletes with Academic All-League teams in each of its 19 championship sports. To be eligible for Academic All-Horizon League consideration, a student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or higher (based on a 4.00 scale) and have completed at least one year at the member institution having earned 24 semester-hour or 36 quarter-hour credits.
