Fazio Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Second Team

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland State senior outside hitter Liz Fazio has been selected to the 2009-10 CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic A;ll-District Volleyball Team. Fazio was one of five players voted to the second team as voted on by members of CoSIDA.

This is the first time that Fazio has been named to the team.

Fazio, who sports a 3.87 grade point average as a biology major, has played in 28 matches with 27 starts this season. She ranks third in the Horizon League with 3.66 kills per set, hitting .234 at the net. In addition, she is second on the team with 2.68 digs per set, while also adding 17 aces, 38 blocks and 28 assists.

She has earned CSU's Athletic Academic Excellence Award for the last four years and was a member of the Academic All-Horizon League team in 2006, 2007 and 2008.

To be nominated for Academic All-District honors, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 or higher. Team members are selected by a vote of the members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) within the district. District IV is made up of schools in Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee.
