CLEVELAND - Former Cleveland State assistant Ernie Gilbert has been named the head women's volleyball coach at Wayne State University in Detroit. Gilbert will direct the WSU program after spending a year at CSU as the first full time assistant in school history. With Gilbert's help, the Vikings went 18-16 in 2003 and advanced to the second round of the Horizon League Championship.

"I'd like to thank Ernie for his outstanding service to our program," CSU head coach Chuck Voss said. "He was a big part of our success last year. He deserves this chance and I know he will do well."

Voss will begin a search immediately for Gilbert's replacement.

The Vikings open the 2004 season at home against Kent State on Sept. 1 at 7:00 p.m. in Woodling Gymnasium.
