Volleyball Knocks Off Youngstown State In Regular Season Finale

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Cleveland State closed out the regular season by earning a 30-21, 30-17, 25-30, 30-26 victory Friday night at Youngstown State. The win assures the Vikings (17-15, 4-10 Horizon League) of consecutive winning seasons for the first time since 1982 and '83.

CSU sophomore outside hitter Jenna Maddocks (Norwalk, Ohio/Norwalk) posted career-highs with 19 kills and a .515 hitting percentage. Junior middle hitter Jamie Bouyer (Bedford Heights, Ohio/Chanel) added 15 kills and seven blocks, while sophomore outside hitter Emily Clark (Bolivar, Ohio/Tuscarawas Valley) tallied 12 kills and 17 digs.

"It was a huge win for us tonight," CSU head coach Chuck Voss said. "We came out and played well from the get-go and Jenna really stepped up."

Colleen Royer paced the Penguins (10-18, 1-13 HL) with 15 kills and 12 digs, while Lori Lyman finished with 13 kills and four blocks.

Cleveland State will be the sixth seed in the upcoming Horizon League Championship hosted by Butler, and will face No. 7 Illinois-Chicago on Friday, Nov. 21 in Indianapolis.
