CLEVELAND, Ohio - Kara Koch had 18 kills and Marie Frease added 15 as Cleveland State hit .350 to earn a 3-0 sweep over Loyola on Friday night in Woodling Gym.

Match scores were25-12, 26-24, 25-21.

The win improved the Vikings to 19-7 overall and 12-3 in the Horizon League, while Loyola fell to 4-21 overall and 1-14 in league play.

"I thought we were able to get off to a quick start in that first set and carry that momentum through the whole match," head coach Chuck Voss said. "We played very well offensively and stayed in our system and I thought Jordan did a good job of getting everyone involved and making good decisions."

Koch added 13 digs for a double-double, while Goad handed out 41 assists. Amy Grabiec made 10 digs and Jackie Dabbelt aadded six kills.

A Koch kill gave the Vikings a 1-0 lead in the first set and Megan Barhorst served the Vikings to six straight points to put CSU up 7-0, forcing the Ramblers to use both timeouts in the run. Loyola would not threaten in the set.

CSU was efficient offensively in the first set, totaling 12 kills and zero errors in 20 attempts (.600).

The second set was much closer, featuring 11 ties.

Loyola jumped on CSU quickly, taking a 10-5 lead, only to watch CSU battle back with a 9-4 run to tie the set at 14-14 on a Rambler attack error. The teams traded points until back-to-back kills from Frease and Barhorst put the Vikings up 22-20.

CSU had a chance at set point, leading 24-23, but an attack error tied the set at 24-24. However, Koch came back with two kills to put CSU up 2-0.

A 9-4 run early in the third set helped the Vikings break a 4-4 tie and take a 13-9 lead on a Loyola service error. However, a 6-2 run by Loyola evened the set at 15-15, but CSU responded with a 5-1 run of its own to take a 20-16 lead en route to the sweep.

CSU closes the regular season on Saturday (Nov. 12) when the Vikings host Green Bay at 4:00 p.m. in Woodling Gym for Senior Day.
