Megan Barhorst has consistently improved her game during her
first two seasons at Cleveland State, growing into a starter last
season. She has improved both her quickness and leaping ability and
will once again be a key component in the middle for the Vikings.
She is a punishing defensive player and can affect games because of
her length and blocking ability and is also one of the teams best
servers.
2009 Season (SOPHOMORE)
Appeared in all 34 matches, making 31 starts, as a key member of
the front row.
Led team with 117 blocks, finishing sixth in the Horizon
League with 0.98 blocks per set.
Amassed 109 block assists, tying for eighth on the single
season chart at CSU.
Tallied 110 kills, 35 aces and 63 digs.
Recorded a career-best three service aces three times,
including against Milwaukee in the league championship match
(11/22).
Also made a career-high seven digs in the league title
match.
Tied career-high with seven blocks against Valparaiso
(10/23) and versus Gardner-Webb (9/12).
Had eight kills at Butler (9/25).
Set a career-high with nine kills, hitting .471 (9-1-17),
with five digs vs. Syracuse (9/5).
2008 Season (FRESHMAN)
Appeared in 14 matches, drawing three starts.
Amassed 19 kills, hitting .220, with seven blocks.
Had three kills, two blocks and two assists in season
finale win at Kent State (11/29).
Hammered out two aces at league champion Milwaukee
(11/7).
Recorded four kills and two blocks in sweep of Youngstown
State (10/7).
Tallied career-high seven kills on 13 attempts (.538) in
win over Chicago State (8/30).
High School
Totaled 2.66 kills per game, 1.22 blocks per game and hit
.333 as a senior to earn first team all-state and all-league
honors.
Honorable mention all-state and second team all-league
pick following her junior year in which she averaged 2.05 kills and
1.4 blocks per game.
Led team to state championship as a senior and regional
runner-up finish in 2005.
Team finished ranked first in the state in 2006.
Totaled 122 total blocks as a senior to set a
school-record.
Lettered three years in volleyball playing for coach Amy
Steininger.
Earned three letters in basketball for coach Treva
Forthcamp, leading team to a pair of appearances in regional
championship.
