Cleveland State Falls in Milwaukee, 3-1

MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin- Megan Barhorst led the Vikings with 12 kills, but the Vikings dropped three straight sets to fall to Milwaukee 3-1 Saturday night in Wisconsin.

"Milwaukee played like a good team tonight," head coach Chuck Voss said. "We came out ready to play and it showed in the first set."

Cleveland State drops to 17-4 on the year and 8-3 in conference play. The Panthers involve to 14-8 and 10-1 in Horizon League.

Match scores were, 21-25, 25-20, 25-21, and 25-21.

The Vikings took the first set, but not before coming from behind. Cleveland State trailed 8-2 early, but rallied for 11 of the next 15 points to tie the set up at 13. After the set was tied at 17, the Vikings got the advantage they needed with the next two points and would not give up the lead.

Cleveland State controlled the beginning of the second set and led 6-3. Milwaukee then took the lead, but the Vikes rebounded to retake the lead at 14-13. Milwaukee took three straight points to give them an 18-15 advantage after tying the match. The Panthers would not give up the lead and beat the Vikings 25-20.

The third set was controlled by the Vikings early as they had a 5-1 lead. The score would be tied seven times in the set, but the difference was two straight point the Panthers had to push out to a 19-17 lead.

The final set, Cleveland State again lead 9-6 early. Milwaukee out paced the Vikings to tie the set up at 11, then controlled the set with a 17-12 lead, putting away the Vikings for the second time during the year.

The Vikes return home for their last non-conference game with a meeting with Robert Morris on Tuesday (Oct 26) at 7:00 p.m. before travelling to Youngstown State on Friday (Oct 29) at 7:00 p.m.
