CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The Cleveland State women's tennis team had four players in action at the ITA Midwest Regional on Friday, as the doubles teams of Kara Sherwood/Alex Bush and Nicole Janek/Alex Power competed in the doubles main draw.

"I thought Alex (Power) and Nicole played well together today, they just had a couple games that weren't great which was enough to sway the final outcome. Kara and Alex (Bush) got themselves into a hole early and just weren't able to overcome the deficit," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "The effort and spirit was definitely there with the four players in action today, but we just didn't execute well in some spots which cost us. We were able to see what we need to work on in the off season and we got a good look at some league opponents, who we will have to be ready for this spring because the league is going to be very deep this season."

Janek and Power had a hard-fought 8-6 loss in their opening round contest, falling to a duo from Illinois. Sherwood and Bush also dropped their opening round match, falling to a tandem from Detroit, 8-3.

Bush also competed in a consolation singles match yesterday (Thursday, Oct. 18), defeating Zaina Sufi of DePaul, 7-5, 3-6, 10-8.
