EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Cleveland State women's tennis team completed action at the Spartan Invite Sunday, finishing out their fall schedule before the ITA Midwest Regional.

"We had a tough final day today, but overall everyone competed very well and we definitely made improvements throughout the invite," interim assistant coach Frank Polito said. "All three matches that we played today were tough, tough matches and we just weren't able to come out on the winning side. Now we will have a couple weeks to work on things before the ITA Midwest Regional."

Mengdi Liu, who was competing in the Draw F Singles bracket, lost a tough finals match Sunday, falling to Kristine Lindal of IPFW, 6-2, 7-5. Liu also reached the semifinals of the Draw C Doubles bracket competing with Ball State's Ayaka Terashi, before they fell to a tandem from IPFW, 8-0.

The doubles team of Alex Power and Maria Lazaris were the other Vikings to be competing on the final day of action, as they dropped a hard-fought backdraw finals match against Toledo, 9-8 (4) in the Draw B Doubles bracket.

The Vikings will now have two weeks off from competition, as they prepare for the ITA Midwest Regional which will begin on Thursday, October 18 and is hosted by the University of Illinois.
