CLEVELAND - Samantha Jones, who won four individual events to lead the Cleveland State women's swimming and diving team to a pair of wins over Youngstown State and Niagara last week, was named Horizon League Swimmer of the Week, the league office announced today. This marks the first time this season Jones has received the honor.

Jones picked up two wins in the Wed., Jan. 21 win over Youngstown State at the Busbey Natatorium. She won the 200 individual medley in 2:13.81 and the 100 butterfly in 59.46. Three days later against Niagara, Jones picked up wins in the 100 freestyle in 54.23 and the 100 backstroke in 1:01.40.

Jones becomes the third Viking swimmer to earn the league's weekly honor this season. Marianne Lionell won the award on Nov. 4 after setting the school record in the 200 breaststroke against UW-Green Bay, while Tina Abbott was honored on Dec. 2 after winning the 500 freestyle against Ohio State.

The Viking women wrap up dual meet action on Sat., Feb. 7 at UIC with Valparaiso. The men are in action a day earlier at Notre Dame.
