Seven Cleveland State Softball Players To Compete In All-Star Game At Firestone Stadium

CLEVELAND - Five players on the Cleveland State University softball roster along with two recently graduated Vikings will participate in a special event at Firestone Stadium as part of the Northeast Ohio Collegiate All-Stars Friday, August 16 at 6 p.m.

The All-Stars will be facing Team Smith, a squad composed of former Olympians and Women's Professional Softball League (WPSL) players, including Cleveland State alumna and current assistant coach Amy Kyler.

Seniors Stephanie Taylor (Wintersville, Ohio/Indian Creek) and Jessica Miller (Medina, Ohio/Medina) and sophomores Kortney Spidell (Strasburg, Ohio/Strasburg-Franklin), Annie Hubert (North Royalton, Ohio/North Royalton) and Michelle Nicholas (Navarre, Ohio/Perry) along with Tiffany Stocker (Sherrodsville, Ohio/Conotton Valley) and Jackie Miller (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) will join collegians from the University of Akron and Kent State University on the All-Star roster.

Team Smith recently finished third in the Canada Cup, behind the two United States national teams. Four former Akron Racers, including Kyler, are on the team and will be competing at Firestone for the first time since 2000.
