Amy Kyler Part Of All-Star Festivities On ESPN Monday Night

CLEVELAND - Cleveland State assistant softball coach and National Pro Fastpitch All-Star Amy Kyler is participating in the Major League Baseball All-Star festivities being held this week in Chicago. Sunday night, Kyler played in the All-Star Legends & Celebrity Softball Game as a member of the Celebrity team. The game was broadcast Monday night on ESPN, following the Home Run Derby.

Among the celebrities taking part in the game were late night television host Jimmy Kimmel, rapper/actor Ice Cube and former Chicago Bears quarterback Jim McMahon. The headliners on the Legends roster were Hall-of-Famers Ernie Banks, Gary Carter, Rollie Fingers, Ozzie Smith and Dave Winfield.

An assistant the past two seasons at CSU under Head Coach Julie Jones, Kyler was four-year letterwinner at CSU (1994-97). During her tenure with the Vikings, she set every major career pitching record, including ERA (1.35), strikeouts (909), innings pitched (782.1), wins (67), appearances (121) and winning percentage (.620).

National Pro Fastpitch is the only professional women's fastpitch softball league in the United States. Major League Baseball is the official development Partner of NPF. The league is headquartered in Denver, and has been in operation since 1997 under the names Women's Pro Fastpitch (WPF) and Women's Professional Softball League (WPSL). The NPF All-Stars will participate in appearances and clinics associated with Major League Baseball's John Hancock All-Star Fanfest at McCormick Place.
