The Cleveland State softball team flexed their muscles in the first game of a doubleheader against Toledo, launching two home runs en route to a 4-3 win.

The Vikings jumped ahead in the first after sophomore Michelle Beightol (Akron, Ohio/Springfield) drove in senior Tiffany Stocker (Sherrodsville, Ohio/Conotton Valley) from third on a bunt single. After Beightol was caught stealing second, junior catcher Stephanie Taylor (Wintersville, Ohio/Indian Creek) singled and scored on senior Jackie Miller's (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) second homer of the year.

The Vikes led 4-0 after three when Beightol smashed her second four-bagger of the season, third of her career.

Freshman pitcher Kortney Spidell (Strasburg, Ohio/Strasburg Franklin) stymied the Rockets through seven innings, allowing three runs on eight hits and striking out six. After two-out RBI singles by Crystal Rizzuto and Jessica Horn brought Toledo within one in the seventh, Spidell got Kalika Stavroulakis to foul out to end the game in the Viking's favor.

After leading off the game with a single, Stocker stole second for her 15th theft on the year and 114th of her career, tying her for 22nd in NCAA career totals.
