April 9, 2001

Box Score

The Vikings continued their struggle to score in the doubleheader at Wright State on Sunday. They left a total of 17 runners on base on the day. However, Jessica Miller provided another strong outing and junior Tiffany Stocker went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases in the 3-2 loss during the first game.

Miller threw six innings and gave up one earned run, but costly errors gave WSU the winning runs.

In the nightcap senior Kim Evans got off to a rocky start on the mound. The Bulldogs used a double and two singles in the first inning to go up, 2-0. The Vikings charged back in the third inning as Stocker led off with a single and a stolen base. A batter later Jackie Miller singled and stole second. An error by WSU's Becky Babin allowed sophomore Stephanie Taylor to reach first and score Stocker. Senior Lisa Horton singled in Miller to knot the score at two apiece.

WSU came back in the fourth with a four-run inning. A pick-off attempt by CSU catcher Stephanie Taylor sailed into the outfield and allowed Valerie Cute to score from first. After a walk and a single Amy Price connected on her second double of the game to score two runs. The Raiders went up to stay, 6-2, on a RBI double by Michelle Demmitt.

Despite the losses, Stocker followed her strong first game with another solid performance in the nightcap. She went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases. Stocker now has 20 stolen bases on the year. Jackie Miller went 4-for-7 in the WSU games.
