CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland State women's soccer player Jessica McCloy has been selected to attend the 2009 NCAA National Student-Athlete Development Conference from May 24-27 in Orlando, Fla., at the Walt Disney World Coronado Spring Resort.

McCloy is one of 226 Division I student-athletes chosen to participate at the conference and is one of nine student-athletes from the Horizon League selected to attend.

"I am really excited to attend the development conference in a few weeks," McCloy said. "It will give me an opportunity to meet other student-athletes from all over the country and also develop my leadership skills that will help me as SAAC President next year."

McCloy, who was recently elected President of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee at CSU for the 2009-10 school year, has played in 35 matches for the Vikings over the last two seasons. She has made 34 starts, totaling two goals and one assist as one of the team's top defenders.

She was among more than 2,000 applicants throughout the country for the conference, which will include approximately 700 student-athletes from the NCAA's three divisions.

Held annually, the Student-Athlete Development Conference provides NCAA student-athletes with a forum to openly discuss issues that may affect them on their campuses and in their communities, while also providing them with the opportunity to enhance their leadership, communication, decision-making and problem-solving skills.

The conference also promotes better communication among student-athletes, coaches, administrators, faculty and communities.

The four-day conference consists of daily team sessions, exercises, speakers and activities to help the student-athletes develop as individuals and as contributing members to society.

The conference is open to all student-athletes at NCAA member institutions.
