Cleveland, OH - Cleveland, OH - The Vikings dropped a close match against the Buffalo Bulls by a score of 26-12, Saturday (1/3) night in Woodling Gym. The Vikings were able to collect four victories, including wins by Rob Michaels, Rashard Goff, Lawrence Cavello and Jordan Keller.

"Our guys wrestled very hard tonight," head coach Ben Stehura said. "Buffalo has a very strong line-up, but we continued to wrestle the entire match, I saw a lot of good stuff out their today."

Lawrence Cavello got the Vikings on the board early with a 5-2 victory. After a scoreless first period, Cavello scored quick takedown giving him a lead (2-1), which he would not relinquish the rest of the match. Cavello took his margin to three points with another takedown early in the third period. Cavello was able to keep a strong position and notch his second victory of the day.

Rob Michaels came out avenging his loss earlier in the day, scoring a takedown in the first minute of the contest and was able to take that 2-1 lead through the first period. Late in the second period, Michaels scored a reversal knotting the score at four. Michaels took control in the final period, getting an escape point at the whistle and then followed that up with two takedowns giving him a 10-5 victory with riding time.

Corey Carlo put in another strong performance against John Martin-Cannon. Going into the third period, Carlo trailed by three points (5-8) but with Cannon on the defensive he was unable to mount any offense.

Rashard Goff dominated the match-up with Brett Correll, taking a 2-1 lead in to the third period. Goff was able to score a quick takedown early in the match, which proved to be the only scoring he would need. After adding an escape and two points of riding time, Goff won his 22nd match by a score of 4-1.

The final contested match of the evening put the Vikings Jordan Keller up against the Bull's Danny Bisphop. Keller led the match from start to finish, taking a 2-0 lead after the first period. Keller continued his momentum early on to the second period adding a two-point reversal, giving him a 4-0 advantage. Keller held on to his lead to grab a 5-2 victory.

Derek Cummins continues improving after an early season injury kept him sidelined. Cummins held his own closing to within five points late in the final period, before coming up short in the end.

In other action Antonio Nicholson gave the Vikings a strong performance in a losing effort. Nicholson was able to get a last second takedown, however, was not enough losing by two points.

"We are starting to enter the meat of the schedule later this month," Stehura said. "We are getting healthier as the season progresses and the guys are realizing their potential."

The Vikings will be back in action on Sunday, January 11, as they travel to Ypsilanti, Michigan to take on Eastern Michigan. Action is set to begin at 3:00 p.m.
