Vikings to Face Ohio and Gardner-Webb on Saturday

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State wrestling team will travel to Gardner-Webb for two matches on Saturday, taking on Ohio at 11:00 am and Gardner-Webb at 12:30 pm.

The Vikings will enter the weekend with a 7-5 dual mark, while Ohio is 10-3 this year and GWU is 7-5 this season.

CSU was last in action on Saturday (Feb. 6), competing in the Edinboro Open where the Vikings had three placers. Nick Corba - who was wrestling unattached - was the runner-up at 184 pounds, while Xavier Dye placed third at 184 pounds. Sam Wheeler was CSU's final placer, finishing fourth at 197 pounds.

Senior heavyweight Riley Shaw is ranked 17th in the latest national rankings and has posted a 21-6 record this year, including 10-1 in duals. He leads the team with four tech falls.

He has won at least 19 matches in each of his four years and has 93 career victories. The defending EWL champion at heavyweight, Shaw is a two-time national qualifier.

Wheeler continues to lead the team in wins with 22, posting a 22-6 record (9-2 in duals). He has tallied a team-best six major decisions.

Nick Montgomery is 13-9 this year at 149 pounds and leads the team with six falls.

CSU returns to action on Friday (Feb. 19) when the Vikings host Michigan State at 7:00 pm in Woodling Gym for Senior Night.
