Wrestling Fights Hard, Falls To Eastern Michigan

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State wrestling team fell to Eastern Michigan on Friday night, 32-3.

The loss drops the Vikings to 4-2 on the year.

Though the final score does not indicate it, the Vikings wrestled hard, as eight of the 10 matches were decided by a simpe decision.

The match started at the 133 pound weight class as Alfredo Gray nearly gave the Vikings an early lead, though he eventually fell 5-3.

The bout at 197 was as entertaining as expected as CSU's Sam Wheeler fought strong against the No. 18 ranked 197 in the country, Anthony Abro. Wheeler continually went for the attack, but Abro was able to fight it off for the 3-1 win. Wheeler fell to 10-2 overall.

At heavyweight, No. 8 Riley Shaw took care of business as usual. His opponent, Gage Hutchison, tried to stay with Shaw but in the end was no match as Shaw left with the 4-0 victory. The win keeps Shaw undefeated on the year at 11-0.

The Vikings will be back in action this Tuesday (Nov. 24) for their highly-anticipated bout with Ohio State. The defending national champs will visit Woodling Gym for a 7:00 p.m. start time. Tickets will be $10.
