CSU Will Travel to Second Place Rider

Last Week Highlights:

CLEVELAND, OH - Cleveland State wrestilng hosted Clarion on Friday (Jan. 30) evening as the Vikings went on to win 21-15 for their third win in a row.

Nick Montgomery won Cleveland State's first match of the night in a 13-2 major decision. LaTrell Davis followed suit in another dominating 17-5 major decision. Xavier Dye brought Cleveland State back within one point from Clarion, 12-11. #15 Riley Shaw won in a 2-0 decision. #15 Ben Willeford won a 18-5 major decision over Hunter Jones. Alfredo Gray finished off the Golden Eagles with an 8-1 decision. 

Upcoming:

The Vikings will continue EWL play as they visit Rider for CSU's fifth league match of the season Saturday (Feb. 7). Wrestling will begin at 1 p.m. Rider is currently second in the EWL while CSU is tied for third in the dual meet standings

Rider returns 4 NCAA qualifiers and 2 EWL champions from last year's team.  In the dual meet last season, CSU defeated Rider 24-23 at Woodling Gym.  At the EWL tournament, Rider finished in fourth while CSU finished in fifth behind Rider by 5.5 points.

CSU boasts two wrestlers who are undefeated in EWL action.  Riley Shaw is 4-0 at heavyweight while Latrell Davis is 3-0 at 157. 

Shaw and Willeford are both ranked #15 by the NCAA Coaches' Panel. Willeford is ranked as high as #13 by the Asics FloRankings and has scored bonus points in the past 3 dual meets.
