CSU Travels to George Mason Saturday

PDF Release: George Mason

Last Week Highlights:

At the Southern Scuffle, the toughest regular season tournament in the nation, Riley Shaw finished in 5th place at 285 and Ben Willeford finished in 8th place at 125.

Willeford knocked off former NCAA top 12 finisher Dominic Parisi of Appalachian State to earn his Southern Scuffle medal.

Shaw knocked off Stanford's Nathan Butler to earn his first Southern Scuffle medal then followed it up with two more wins to ultimately finish in 5th place.

Riley Shaw's fifth place medal is the highest since Gerald Harris took 3rd in the 2002 Midlands.

This marks the first time since 1991 that two CSU wrestlers have placed in one of the prestigious holiday classic tournaments (The Midlands or Southern Scuffle).  In 1991, Dan Carcelli and Jeff Scherma both placed for the Vikings at the Midlands.

The other four Vikings (Dan King, Alfredo Gray, Mike Carlone, and Xavier Dye) lost in the first consolation round on the second day.
