GREEN BAY, Wis. - The doubles point was the difference as Cleveland State split three singles matches with UW-Green Bay in a 4-3 victory this weekend. The win was CSU's first regular season triumph over UW-Green Bay and locks the Vikings in the top three seeds for the upcoming Horizon League Championship.

After the Vikings won at Nos. 1 and 3 doubles to take a 1-0 lead on the Phoenix, freshmen Ryan Hamning Phil Orno each won to tie the match 3-3. Orno came up big for CSU, overcoming dropping the first set at No. 2 singles to win in three sets 4-6, 6-2, 6-1.  Sophomore Rob West's 7-6 (5), 7-6 (5) win at No. 5 singles clinched the match for the Vikings.

"Phil kept his focus after losing the first set and really showed maturity to win the point and clinch the match," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "But I think winning doubles point was very important for us to win that match."

The No. 3 singles win over Matt Keesey makes Hamning 26-10 on the season. He and Orno are now 24-6 at No. 1 doubles.

Cleveland State (16-6, 3-0 HL), just two wins shy of the single-season school record with two matches to play, is now locked into a top three seed in the Horizon League Championship, competing for position with defending champion Butler and UIC. Each of those opponents will be coming to Cleveland next weekend to close out the regular season on April 21-22.
