COLUMBUS, Ohio-  The Cleveland State men's swimming and diving team competed against Ohio State, Denison, and Virginia Tech on Friday evening.

The Vikings swimmers were led by freshman Patrick Walsh, junior Kyle Riordan, and senior Justin Kermack.  On the diving end for CSU, sophomore Danny Roberts and sophomore Stephen Schillero had solid showings.

Walsh had consistant performances in the 1,000 Freestyle with a time of 9:45.93 and in the 500 Freestyle had a time of 4:44.47.  Riordan also swam well in the 1,000 and 500 Freestyle events with times of 9:50.29 and 4:46.15. Kermack swam in the 200 butterfly and 100 butterfly events for CSU.  Kermack's time of 51.04 in the 100 butterfly gave him a fourth place finish.  In the 200 butterfly he swam a time of 1:52.46.

In diving, Danny Roberts and Stephen Schillero competed in the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events. Roberts tallied a score of 286.65 in the 1-meter and Schillero posted a score of 284.95 in the 1-meter dive.  In the 3-meter, Roberts recorded a score of 324.25 and Schillero scored a 309.10.

Head Coach Wally Morton spoke about how the meet went for the Green and White. "We are in a very heavy part of our training and lifting in our practices.  We have solid performances we can build upon and are looking to continue on improving week in and week out.  We got a great opportunity to compete against the top teams in the nation.  From that, we will get better from what kind of competition we faced."

The Vikings fell to Ohio State 201-91, fell to Virginia Tech 252-48, and fell to Denison 180-120.  The men only will be back home in the pool tomorrow afternoon at Robert F. Busbey Natatorium , (Nov. 2), against Miami (OH) with the swim events beginning at 2:00 p.m.  Prior to the meet, last year's Men's Swimming and Diving Team will receive their Championship rings on winning the tournament last year in Chicago, Illinois.
