  • The Cleveland State men's soccer team (6-10-0, HL 2-2-0) has two key league matches this week, as CSU will travel to Wright State on Wednesday (Oct. 30) at 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday (Nov. 2) the Vikings will host Valparaiso at 7:30 p.m. at Krenzler Field for the final regular season home match of the year. 

WEEK NINE RECAP:

  • The Vikings split the week going 1-1 with CSU defeating Detroit, 5-2 (Oct. 23), and falling to Ohio State 1-0 on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 27).
  • Senior forward Admir Suljevic posted a hat trick with three first half goals against Detroit. 

SULJEVIC EARNS OFFENSIVE POW HL HONORS:

  • Senior forward Admir Suljevic posted a hat trick with three first half goals against Detroit. 
  • Suljevic leads the team with five goals on the year, to go along with tallying 13 points and three assists.

HAT TRICK:

 

  • The last time a hat trick was accomplished since Suljevic's was back on October 11, 2011 vs. Loyola at Krenzler Field.
  • Aaron Adkins of Cleveland State netted three goals in the contest.

GOALKEEPERS:

  • CSU has used all three goalkeepers on the roster through 16 games.
  • Freshman Nick Ciraldo has started eight games this season saving 19 shots.  Ciraldo picked up his third win against Detroit on Wednesday (Oct. 23).
  • Sophomore Austin Saini has tallied 14 saves on the year.  Junior Joe Kalt has played in four matches saving eight shots.

HORIZON LEAGUE STAT RANKINGS:

  • The Vikings are ranked fourth in goals with 19.
  • CSU ranks sixth in assists with 16 and in points Cleveland State ranks fourth with 54.

VIKING CONTRIBUTORS:

  • Freshman midfielder/forward Dan Koniarczyk scored his first goal of his collegiate career against Detroit (Oct. 23).  
  • Junior midfielder Gianluca Cuomo also netted his first goal of the season as a Viking against Detroit.

ALL-TIME VS. WRIGHT STATE/VALPARAISO:

  • Cleveland State has played Wright State 28 times, with CSU leading the series 14-13-1.  The last time the two schools met was last year with the Vikings winning 2-1.
  • CSU and Valparaiso matched up in the Horizon League tournament last year with Cleveland State  coming out victorious 1-0.  The Vikings lead the all-time series 11-3-2.

  • The Vikings will finish out the 2013 regular season on Saturday (Nov. 9), as the Vikings will travel to Milwaukee with kickoff beginning at 8:00 p.m.
