THE FIRST TEE: Cleveland State returns to action when it plays in its fifth and final event of the fall season at the Belmont Fall Shootout on Oct. 15-16. The event will be contested at the par-71, 6,501-yard, Old Natchez Country Club in Brentwood, Tenn. The field will open play with 36 holes on Monday (Oct. 15) at 8:00 am before concluding the tournament with the final 18 holes on Tuesday (Oct. 16) at 9:00 am.

LAST TIME OUT: CSU carded rounds of 277-277-291 (845) to finish fourth of nine teams at the IPFW Fall Classic. Playing at the par-71, 6,582-yard Deer Track Golf Course in Fort Wayne, Ind., the Vikings opened with school-record rounds during Monday's first two rounds and were tied for third place. However, CSU struggled in Tuesday's final round and fell to fourth place. Jake Scott (67-69-72) and Kyle Cobb (70-68-70) tied for sixth place at 208.

THE HEAD COACH: Steve Weir, a 2006 CSU graduate, is in his first season as the head golf coach after serving as an assistant coach last season. In his lone season of golf for the Vikings (2006), Weir earned all-league honors and was a two-time Horizon League Golfer of the Week. He was instumental in helping the Vikings claim the 2006 Horizon League Championship as he placed 11th overall. In addition, he holds the school-record for lowest round as he carded an eight-under par 63 en route to a runner-up finish at the Belmont Intercollegiate.

HOW LOW CAN YOU GO?: CSU proved you can go low not once, but twice as the Vikings shot school-record rounds of seven-under-par, 277 during Monday's (Oct. 8) first and second rounds at the IPFW Fall Classic. The two rounds of 277 were two shots better than the old school-record of 279 set during the third round of the Ohio Collegiate Classic on Oct. 23, 2000.

SIZZLING SCOTT: Junior Jake Scott has been CSU's top golfer this fall as he leads the team with a 72.4 stroke average. In addition, Scott has carded a team-low round of 67, which came during Monday's (Oct. 8) first round at the IPFW Classic. His 67 was tied for the third lowest round in school-history trailing only Steve Weir's 63 in 2006 and Mike Rutgers' 66 in 2004.
