Men's Golf To Receive Horizon League Championship Rings on Thursday

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Members of the Cleveland State men's golf team who won the 2009 Horizon League Championship will officially receive their championship rings during halftime of the men's basketball game against Valparaiso on Thursday (Feb. 11).

Under the direction of second-year head coach Steve Weir, CSU captured its second straight league title and third in the last four years.

CSU carded rounds of 302-297-288 (887) to out-distance second place Detroit by five strokes.

Senior Jake Scott claimed his second straight medalist honors by five shots, finishing one-under-par.

Other team members who played at the league championship were Kent Monas, James Boxley, Kyle Cobb and Patrick Elber.

The Vikings open the spring season on Feb. 22-23 when CSU competes at the Francis Marion Invitational in Florence, S.C.
