CHARDON, Ohio - The final round of the Telich Sun Life Financial/CSU Invitational was canceled due to rain in the area and the event was shortened to 36 holes.

A handful of players were back on the course at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning to conclude their second round as they did not finish on Monday due to darkness.

Once everyone was finished, the decision was made to cancel the final round and shorten the event.

"It was unfortunate that we couldn't get the final round in, but there is nothing we can do to control the weather," head coach Steve Weir said. "We made a nice comeback in the second round and hopefully were able to get some things straightened out.

"I want to thank the staff at Sand Ridge for putting on another great event for us. They were a very gracious host for us again and did such a great job to keep the course in good shape despite the high winds and rain it faced over the last two days."

The Vikings finished ninth of 12 teams, carding rounds of 322-307 (629), just one shot behind North Dakota and Butler for seventh place and two shots back of IPFW for sixth place.

Malone College won the event at 598 (295-303), while Cincinnati was second at 610 (304-305).

Oakland tied with Green Bay for third place as both stood at 620, but Oakland received the third place trophy following a scorecard playoff as the Grizzlies No. 5 golfer had a lower score than UWGB's No. 5 player (82-84).

CSU senior Kyle Cobb finished seventh overall in the individual standings, firing rounds of 76-75 (151).

Justin Lower of Malone claimed medalist honors at 148 (71-77).

The Vikings will be out of action until Oct. 12-13 when they compete at the 54-hole Cincinnati Invitational.
