CHARDON, Ohio -- Cleveland State shot rounds of 296-293 and holds a four-stroke lead after the opening 36 holes of the Cleveland State Invitational played Monday at the par-71, 7,072-yard Sand Ridge Golf Club.
"We were really solid all around today," assistant coach Nate Miklos said. "The team really grinded it out all day. Hopefully, we can come back with another good round tomorrow."
The Vikings (589) lead Cincinnati by four shots. The Bearcats are followed by Loyola (597), South Dakota State (602) and Southern Illinois (603).
Individually, CSU freshman Kent Monas is tied for second place at 142. He opened with a 73 in the morning before carding a 69 in the afternoon. He trails Ryan Stocke of Youngstown State by two shots. Stocke carded rounds of 69 and 71 and stands at two-under par.
The tournament concludes with 18 holes on Tuesday with players going off the first and 10th tees beginning at 8:00 am.
