LAWRENCE, Kan. - Cleveland State freshman Kent Monas fired a final round 70 on Tuesday and finished tied for third place at the 54-hole Kansas Invitational contested Monday and Tuesday at the par-72, 7,092-yard Alvamar Golf Club.

"Kent and Jake really carried us again this week," CSU head coach Steve Weir said. "There were low scores out there today, but we couldn't put four low scores on the board."

The Vikings finished 10th in the team standings with rounds of 299-309-301 (909).

Houston carded a final round 292 and claimed the team title with an 888 total. The Cougars outdistanced Oral Roberts and Kansas who tied for second at 894.

Jordan Irwin of Houston earned medalist honors with rounds of 74-70-71 (215). Cole Howard of North Texas shot a 217 to claim runner-up honors by one shot over Monas and Austin Hannah of Oral Roberts.

CSU junior Jake Scott tied for 11th after rounds of 73-74-75 (222).

The Vikings will return to action on Sept. 24-25 when they host the Cleveland State Invitational at Sand Ridge Golf Club in Chardon. The 11-team field will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday. There will be a shotgun start at 9:00 am on Monday with tee times starting at 8:00 am on Tuesday.
