BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Cleveland State shot a final round 290 and finished fourth out of 12 teams at the John Piper Invitational on Tuesday morning at the par-72, 7,064-yard Sand Ridge G.C.

Bowling Green served as the host for the two-day, 54-hole event.

"We were finally able to put some things together and post a pretty decent score," head coach Steve Weir said. "Unfortunately, we were not able to make up any ground on the leaders, but I was proud of the way we battled today and didn't let any teams behind us pass us.

"I think there are some positives that we can take away from this tournament as we move forward. We definitely left some shots on the course over the last two days, but we will use this as a learning experience and grow from this."

Junior Kent Monas carded a final round 69, tied for the third lowest round of the day, and wound up tied for seventh place with a three-round total of 217 (77-71-69).

Senior Kyle Cobb tied for 10th place, one shot behind Monas at 218 (72-72-74), while freshman Alex Michalowski tied for 16th place at 220 (74-74-72).

The Vikings will have little time to regroup as CSU will play in the 54-hole Michigan State Invitational on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 19-20.
