BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Cleveland State shot a first round total of 300 and came back with a second round 294 and the Vikings are in fourth place out of 12 teams at 594 after the first two rounds of the John Piper Invitational.

The two-day, 54-hole event is being hosted by Bowling Green at the par-72, 7,064-yard Sand Ridge G.C.

"I thought we came out and competed well today," head coach Steve Weir said. "We bounced back nicely from playing poorly in our first event, but I think we left some shots on the course, especially on the 17th and 18th holes. That's the difference of being in fourth place and first place.

"We have to be able to come out tomorrow and close the tournament with another strong round."

CSU is six shots behind third place Indianapolis and 13 strokes behind co-leaders Bowling Green and Green Bay.

Youngstown State is in fifth place, one shot behind CSU (595), while Loyola is three strokes back (597) is sixth place.

Senior Kyle Cobb leads the CSU contingent as he is tied for seventh place with a two-round total of 144. Cobb carded two rounds of 72 today.

Junior Kent Monas is tied for 15th place after firing rounds of 77-71 (148) today.

The event will conclude on Tuesday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
