HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Cleveland State wound up in a tie for 12th at the Marshall Invitational, which had to be shortened to 36 holes due to snow in the area. As did most of the 16 teams in the field, the Vikings had to complete just three holes to wrap up Friday's second round. However, the schools were unable to play the final 18 holes because of the weather.

Penn State ran away from the field with a four-under par 280 in the second round at the par 71, 6,476-yard Guyan Golf & Country Club. The Nittany Lions finished at 565 (-3) to easily defeat Ball State and Marquette, who were tied for second at 577 (+9). CSU and Bowling Green were tied for 12th at 595.

PSU's Robert Rohanna put together rounds of 69 and 68 to edge Marquette's Mike Van Sickle and teammate Kevin Foley by a single stroke at five-under par 137. Ben Grandy carded a 70 in the second round -- one of just nine scores under par -- to move into a tie for 14th at 146 to lead the Viking contingent. Meanwhile, Jake Scott was just a shot back at 147 in a tie for 26th.

"We came out this morning and finished nicely to pick up a couple of shots," CSU head coach Brian Varsey said. "The way we were playing, it would have been nice to get in the final round and have the opportunity to move up even further. I'm pleased overall with our performance considering this was our first time in the tournament and with the tough weather conditions."

Cleveland State is off for two weeks before heading south to take part in the Dayton Invitational on April 23-24.
