BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Sunday's final round of the IU Hoosier Invitational was cancelled due to poor weather conditions and the event was cut down to 36 holes. Cleveland State tied for seventh place after rounds of 298-301 (599) on Saturday at the par-71, 6,813-yard IU Golf Course.

"We went out and were playing really well today," head coach Steve Weir said. "We were hitting the ball well and rolling it well and making a charge. Unfortunatley, the weather struck and forced us off the course. We thought we were going to be able to get back out later today, but they determined that the course was too wet. It's to bad because we were really playing well through the first four holes today."

The Vikings shot a 298 in the first round and was in fourth place overall. CSU came back with a 301 in the second round this afternoon and slipped three places into a tie for seventh place with Ball State.

The duo placed three shots behind sixth place Toldeo (596), seven shots back of fifth place Indiana (Crimson) (592) and nine shots shy of fourth place Indiana (590).

Eastern Kentucky won the tournament after rounds of 304-278 (586), two shots better than second place Miami (OH), which shot 282-302 (584).

The event was delayed for more than an hour on Saturday morning due to frost on the course as the teams played in cold, wet conditions. Teams were able to play two or three holes on Sunday before bad weather hit the area.

"I was very impressed with how the guys battled through the conditions," head coach Steve Weir said. "We had a very good day and are right in the mix. The course was playing very long and wet and everybody stayed mentally tough through all 36 holes."

Junior Jake Scott tied for sixth place after the first two rounds after carding rounds of 73-72 (145). Patrick Elber fired rounds of 72-78 (150) and tied for 30th overall.

CSU will be back in action on April 5 at the Irish Spring Classic in South Bend, Ind. The Vikings will then compete at the Wright State Invitational on April 6-7.
