JASPER, Ind. - Cleveland State sophomore James Boxley shot a final round 74 and tied for fourth place at the Ball State Cardinal Classic on Sunday morning at the par-72, 6,859-yard Sultan's Run G.C.

CSU carded a final round 305 as a team and finished 11th of 15 teams.

The Vikings played the tournament with just four players as senior Kyle Cobb, normally CSU's No. 1 golfer, missed the event due to illness.

"I'm proud of the way our guys battled knowing that they didn't have any room for error or someone else to fall back on," assistant coach Nathan Miklos said. "It's never easy playing down one golfer because you know from the first shot that your score is going to count and that adds a lot of pressure. But everyone hung tough and played some good golf over the last two days."

Boxley's 74 came on the heels of rounds of 75 and 71 on Saturday, giving him a 54-hole total of 220. He finished seven shots behind Matt Schneider of Bowling Green who won the tournament at 213 and just two shots out of second place and one shot out of third.

Kellen Erdman netted a top-20 finish, carding rounds of 77-74-74 (225) to tie for 19th place.

CSU is back in action on April 3-4 when the Vikings take part in the 54-hole Indiana Invitational.
