AVON, Ind. - Cleveland State shot a 314 in Tuesday's final round to finish tied for second out of 10 teams at the 36-hole Butler Spring Invitational contested at the par-72, 6,885-yard Prestwick Country Club.

The Vikings, who were playing in their first tournament of the spring, were the defending tournament champions and had led after Monday's opening round. CSU shot 297 in the first round and wound up three shots behind shots behind Evansville.

"It's a good way to start the season, but we are disappointed about falling into second place," head coach Steve Weir said. "It's not exacly how we wanted to start the spring season, but we can use this as motivation as we move forward."

Junior Jake Scott led the Vikings with a second place showing, carding rounds of 71-75 (146). He was the defending tournament champion.

Scores were much higher for all the men's teams today as team's battled through 30-40 mile per hour winds and even some snow flurries.

The Vikings will be back in action on Saturday and Sunday when they compete at the 54-hole Hoosier Invitational.
