CLEVELAND, Ohio - Trey Harmon hit a career-high six three-pointers and scored 20 points as Cleveland State improved to 14-3 with a 69-48 win over Loyola on Saturday afternoon in the Wolstein Center.

The Vikings also maintained their hold on first place in the Horizon League at 4-1. Loyola fell to 5-11 overall and 0-6 in league play.

Harmon, who missed Thursday's game with a concussion, came back in a big way, hitting his first four three-pointers en route to his third 20 point game of the season and 11th of his career.

"I felt great out there," Harmon said. "I had to catch my win the first couple of minutes. I wanted to let the game come to me. While I was out, the team had a lot of chemistry. I didn't want to come back and mess that up. I had some open shots and my hard work in the gym paid off."

Harmon finished 6-of-7 from three-point, adding a pair of assists and two rebounds in 29 minutes.

Tim Kamczyc just missed his first career double-double with 11 points, nine rebounds and four assists. Anton Grady added 10 points, his second straight double-figure effort, while Jeremy Montgomery scored eight.

Loyola became the fourth team to score less than 50 points against CSU this year, joining Rhode Island (45), Wright State (43) and Sam Houston State (45).

"We came into this game with defensive goals," head coach Gary Waters said. "We wanted to hold them to under 40 percent and limit their big guys. They both ended up with 10 points and we did a good job on them. Loyola did a good job of getting it inside and they're a physical team, but we did a good job on them.

"When we stop our opponent, I feel good. Even if we're slow offensively, I feel good because of our team defense."

Loyola took a quick 9-5 lead early on and still led (11-10) with 9:19 to play in the first half. But Harmon nailed a three-pointer to spark the Vikings and help them close the half on a 22-6 run, sending CSU to a 32-17 lead at the break.

Harmon finished the first half 4-of-4 from three-point.

It helped the Vikings improve to 10-1 this year when leading at the half.

CSU maintained control of the contest throughout the second half as the Ramblers did not get closer than 13 points the rest of the game.

The Vikings finished 10-of-17 (.588) from three-point and have hit 48-of-100 (.480) from long range over the last five games.

CSU finished 26-of-46 (.565) overall from the field today, notching a season-high 20 assists. The Vikings held Loyola to just 13-of-41 (.317) shooting, including 1-of-9 (.111) from three-point.

Loyola dominated at the free throw line, making 21-of-30. The Vikings were 7-of-8.

CSU is back in action on Friday (Jan. 13) when the Vikings travel to Butler for a 7:00 p.m. contest that can be seen live on ESPNU.
