Hancock was part of the 800-yard freestyle relay team that won four consecutive conference titles, setting a then-conference record in 2003. He formerly held the school-record in the 400-yard IM, being the first Viking in school history to break the four-minute barrier in the event.

Hancock spent five seasons as an assistant coach, helping lead the men's team to at least 10 wins in each of his four years while helping build the women's team from a four-win team in 2007-08 to a 15-win squad last season.

The recruiting coordinator, facility manager, and record-keeper for Cleveland State, Hancock was recognized over the past offseason as an honorable mention for CollegeSwimming.com's Career/Lifetime Assistant Coach-of-the-Year award.
