EVENT #7: Falcon Invitational
Date: Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007
Time: 10:45 a.m.
Site: Bowling Green, Ohio

THE STARTING LINE: Cleveland State will travel to Bowling Green, Ohio for the second time this season when the Vikings compete at the Falcon Invitational on Saturday (Oct. 13) at 10:45 am at Forrest Creason Golf Course. CSU also ran at Bowling Green on Sept. 15 at the Mel Brodt Invitational.

LAST TIME OUT: The Vikings placed 31st out of 44 teams at the All-Ohio Championships on Friday (Oct. 5) afternoon at the Methodist Theological School in Delaware, Ohio. Allison Craine was the top Viking finisher as she placed 129th with a time of 21:39, while Colleen Conway finished 167th in 22:22.

THE HEAD COACH: In his third season at the helm of the cross country team, Joe Jaketic has continued to make steady progress in building the program. Last season, Jaketic guided the squad to an eighth place showing at the Horizon League Championships. It marked the first time since the 1997 MCC Championships that CSU finished ahead of a league foe. Jaketic is a veteran of CSU athletics as he is in his 37th season overseeing the department's equipment operations.

ON THE FAST TRACK: The Vikings will be making their second trip of the season to Bowling Green this weekend and will attempt to enjoy the same success that they had at the Mel Brodt Invitational on Sept. 15. At that meet, three Vikings ran personal-best times, while six of the eight athletes recorded their lowest time of the season at the event.

CRAINE NOW 6-FOR-6: Freshman Allison Craine has been the top runner for CSU in all six events this season, including a personal-best time of 19:02 at the Mel Brodt Invitational on Sept. 15 at Bowling Green. That time was the lowest for a CSU runner since Amy Ritzman ran an 18:53 at the 1992 Mid-Continent Championships.

SHE DOES IT HER WAY: Sophomore Colleen Conway has been the Vikings second finisher on three occasions this season, including Friday at the All-Ohio Championships when she ran a 22:22. In addition, Conway was CSU's second runner at the Bill Sudeck Invitational (Sept. 1) with time of 21:00 and at the Crusader Open (Sept. 7) with a time of 21:38. Conway ran a personal-best time of 20:04 at the Mel Brodt Invitational on Sept. 15.

UP NEXT: The Vikings will be out of action until Oct. 27 when they compete at the Horizon League Championships in Valparaiso, Ind.
