WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Cleveland State ran to a 34th place finish at the 2008 Great Lakes Regional Championship at Purdue University. The Vikings, who were running on a 6-kilometer course for just the second time this season, totaled 1,042 points.
"It was a cold, wet, damp day today and tough running conditions," head coach Joe Jaketic said. "We didn't have the success that I had hoped to have on the course, but the team really responded well and helped each other out on the course.
"We took a really big step this season and I think we will get better in the future because of races like today. We had a great year and I really enjoyed it. The team created a lot of memories and that's what its all about. I look forward to another fun, exciting season next year.
Junior Colleen Conway led CSU with a 191st place showing, finishing the 6-kilometer course in 25:12. Brittany Elmlinger was CSU's next finisher as she was 200th in 25:30.
