TOLEDO, Ohio - The Cleveland State cross country team wrapped up the 2011 season this afternoon, as the Vikings competed at the Great Lakes Regional. As a team, CSU placed 31st, ahead of Horizon League opponent Detroit. Individually, the Vikings were paced by Allison Craine who placed 125th in the 6k race.

"I am very, very proud of the way this team competed this season. They recorded the most successful season in program history and I couldn't have asked for anything more," head coach Joe Jaketic said. "We didn't compete as well as I would have liked to today, we let some Horizon League teams beat us, but overall it was a good day. The course was very nice and we couldn't have asked for better weather."

Craine finished in a time of 22:57, her best 6k time of the season, and recorded a 19:09 5k split. Freshman Kendra Kezur was the second Viking to cross the finish line, placing 179th in a time of 24:08. Kari Haywood and Brittany Elmlinger also recorded their best 6k times of the season, Haywood placing 203rd in 24:58 and Elmlinger placing 219th in 25:54.

Kelly Zaleski, Tori Holt and Katie Webb rounded out the Vikings that competed at the Great Lakes Regional, Zaleski placing 206th (25:11), Holt placing 208th (25:13) and Webb placing 216th (25:34).

"The 2011 senior class has done so much for this program, two years ago we finished 10th at the Horizon League championship and this year we had our best-ever finish at fourth. They are just a tremendous group of leaders, both on the course and off and they will be greatly missed," Jaketic said.
