NORTHVILLE, Mich. - Senior Allison Craine ran to a ninth place finish to help lead Cleveland State to a fourth place finish out of eight teams on Saturday morning at the 25th Annual Running Fit-Detroit Titan Invitational at Cass Benton Park.
The Vikings scored 88 points, finishing just eight points behind third place Macomb C.C. (80 points). Wayne State won the title with 45 points, while host Detroit was second with 74 points.
"It was a tough day out there with the rain so it made the course wet and muddy," head coach Joe Jaketic said. "But I thought we battled hard the entire race and although we were hoping for a better finish, there are some things we can take away from this race and build on."
Senior Allison Craine was CSU's top finisher, running the course in a time of 20:23 to finish in ninth place. Freshman Kendra Kezur was close behind, running a 20:32 to place 11th.
Senior Kelly Zaleski and freshmen Katie Webb and Tori Holt rounded out CSU's scoring as all three finished near each other.
Zaleski was 21st in 20:57, Webb was 23rd in 21:04 and Holt finished 24th in 21:07.
The Vikings are back in action next Saturday (Sept. 17) when CSU competes at the Friendship Invitational. The race is slated to begin at 11:00 a.m.
