CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The Cleveland State track & field team was back in action Saturday, notching a pair of event wins at the Yellow Jacket Collegiate Open.

"After a stormy start to the day, we got things going and had strong performances in the 100 and 200, while we also had good performances in the throwing events," head coach Jason Hudson said. "Madison Morris, Grace Frye and Landry Driskel highlighted our individual efforts on the day, with Landry winning the discus and Grace winning the shot put. One of the biggest skills that freshmen need to learn is patience, and Landry is starting to get that after trusting the process and finally seeing the results come. I'm excited to see what the rest of the season holds for her!"

In field events, the Vikings posted nine top-10 finishes, including a pair of event wins from Grace Frye in the Shot Put and Landry Driskel in the Discus. Frye posted a mark of 13.04 to win the shot put, while Driskel had a mark of 42.28 in the discus to finish first in the event. In addition, Frye also placed second in the Hammer with a mark of 46.04, while Karly Klaer notched a third place finish in the Javelin (29.58).

On the track, the Vikings notched a pair of fourth place finishes in the 10,000 Meter Run and 5,000 Meter Run, with Sage Colòn posting a time of 42:08.00 in the 10,000 and Madelynn Madison recorded a time of 19:09.68 in the 5,000.

Ana Crangle also posted a top-five finish on the day, finishing fifth in the 3,000 Steeple Chase with a time of 11:29.80.

In addition, Ky'Renae Matlock (400 - 1:02.03) and Melinda Brown (100 - 12.57) both tallied 10th place finishes in their respective events.

Next up for the Vikings will be the Golden Grizzlies Invite on Saturday, April 6.
