Cross Country To Compete At #JennaStrong Fall Classic

CLEVELAND, Ohio – In preparation for the upcoming Horizon League Championship, the Cleveland State cross country team will run in its final tune-up of the season this weekend, participating in the #JennaStrong Fall Classic. The race is hosted by Wilmington College, with the women's 5K set for a 4:30 p.m. start on Friday, October 16.

LAST TIME OUT
Last weekend the Vikings had a strong showing at the Disney Cross Country Classic – paced by the duo of Ashlyn Woods (18:57) and Samantha Butterbaugh (19:36) who both recorded sub 20-minute 5K times. MARSHALL SETS PERSONAL-BEST
Last time out, sophomore Emily Marshall recorded a personal-best 5K time, finishing the Disney Cross Country Classic in a time of 21:39. This marked her second sub 22-minute 5K this season, as she also broke 22 minutes at the Detroit Titan Invitational (21:54).

WOODS RECORDS SUB 19-MINUTE 5K
Junior Ashlyn Woods recorded her third sub 19-minute 5K of the season last time out, finishing 22nd out of 304 total runners with a time of 18:57. Woods, who has five sub 19-minute 5K times on her career, holds the program record for 18-minute 5K's, while owning four of the top-five times in program history.

#JENNASTRONG
The 2015 edition of the #JennaStrong Fall Classic – formerly called the Wilmington Fall Classic – will be the third honoring former Wilmington student-athlete Jenna Parlette, who tragically passed away in 2013. The race will support Epilepsy awareness, something that Jenna worked tirelessly to support.
