Vikings Ready For Disney Cross Country Classic

CLEVELAND, Ohio – To continue the 2015 season, the Cleveland State cross country team will take a trip down south for the Disney Cross Country Classic presented by New Balance this Saturday (Oct. 10). This will be the second time that the Vikings will be running at Disney World – also participating in the 5K during the 2012 season.

THE DETAILS
Saturday's Disney Cross Country Classic will take place at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at the Walt Disney World Resort, with the women's 5K set for an 8:20 a.m. start.

Fans that are unable to attend Saturday's race will be able to follow along live with a video stream on ESPN3 and live results via Half-Mile Timing. Links for both the live video and live results can be found at the top of the release or on the cross country schedule page at CSUVikings.com.

THE FIELD
Cleveland State will be part of a 35-team field at the Disney Cross Country Classic, joining Cuyahoga CC, Malone, Tiffin, and Youngstown State from the state of Ohio.

LAST TIME OUT
Last weekend the Vikings ran at the All-Ohio Championships, with two Vikings recording personal-best 6K times. Samantha Butterbaugh set her personal-best with a time of 23:13, while Megan O'Keefe tied her personal-best time of 24:48.  O'Keefe also tied her career-best 5K mark with a time of 20:43 at the split.

2015 RESULTS | TOP PERFORMANCES

IN THE RECORD BOOKS
For the second straight race, Ashlyn Woods and Samantha Butterbaugh posted top-10 6K times and top-30 5K times – earning their sixth and fifth top-50 top-performances of the season, respectively. Woods' 6K time of 22:38 ranks third all-time at CSU, while her 5K split of 18:50 is tied for third. Butterbaugh's 6K time of 23:13 is tied for eighth all-time at CSU, with her 5K split of 19:16 tying for 25th all-time. 

SHAMROCK & WARD RETURN
After sitting out the past few weeks due to injuries, Alanna Shamrock and Marissa Ward both returned to the course at the All-Ohio Championship, Shamrock finishing the 6K in a time of 24:47 and Ward crossing the finish line in a time of 27:58.
