Woods Named Horizon League Runner Of The Week

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – After leading the Cleveland State cross country team at the LHU Invitational last weekend, junior Ashlyn Woods has been named the Horizon League Runner of the Week. This marks the first weekly honor for Woods and the first weekly accolade for the Vikings since the 2012 season.

Last time out, Woods placed 12th out of 258 runners at the LHU Invitational, finishing the 6K course in a time of 22:25. This was the highest individual finish for a Viking this season, and the second top-20 finish for Woods.

Woods' time of 22:25 marked the second-fastest 6K in Cleveland State history – second only to her own time of 22:17 that she set last season at the Horizon League Championship. Woods recorded a 5K split of 18:44 at the LHU Invitational, also marking the second fastest 5K time in CSU history. Her 5K split of 18:44 marks just the fifth sub 19-minute 5K at Cleveland State.

Both times were season-best marks for not only Woods, but also Cleveland State.

The Vikings will return to action on Friday (October 2), when they participate in the All-Ohio Championships in Cedarville, Ohio.
