CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State cross country team will continue the 2015 season this weekend, participating in the LHU Invitational on Saturday, September 26. Saturday's race will mark the first 6K of the season for the Vikings, and is slated to start at 11:30 a.m. at the West Branch Cross Country Course in Lock Haven, Pa.
Cleveland State will be part of a 19-team field at the LHU Invitational.
Last time out the Vikings finished seventh at the Friendship Invitational – paced by Ashlyn Woods who finished 17th overall with a time of 19:16. Woods' time was her second sub 20-minute 5K of the season, and is tied for 23rd on the All-Time Top Performance list at Cleveland State. Samantha Butterbaugh also posted a sub 20-minute 5K, crossing the finish line in a time of 19:42.
For the third straight week freshman Marissa Sell improved her 5K time, posting a 20:23 at the Friendship Invitational last weekend as the third Viking to cross the finish line. Sell has been in Cleveland State's top-three finishers during two races this season, including CSU's best finish at the Titan Invitational (Sept. 12).
